Comfort and Consolation

The road beneath my feet

You are the road beneath my feet,
My path to who-knows-where.
Broad and secure in the bright sunlight,
You ease my way.
As a faint trail under the crescent moon,
You are my only hope.

You keep me safe in the wilderness
And show me the way forward.
Steadily, you encourage me onward,
Leading me surely to the light.

If I lose my way, I will look for you.
A single step brings me back.
My road, my path, my desire,
I will follow you faithfully.

You will be my guide and I will seek you.

At dawn, as I rise from my bed,
I will turn to you.

At noon, busy in my day,
My feet will not stray.

In the evening, tired from my efforts,
I will seek your comfort.

My road, may you be
always beneath my feet.
Let me step lightly on you,
Let my eyes follow your line,
Let my mind know your direction.
