They laughed at the yellow robe,
made jokes about the shaven head,
called me a "gook lover,"
for being Anu's friend!
Then the cowards attacked us
with knives & metal bats,
as we lay on the ground bleeding
I heard Anu chanting in Chinese.

Then there was a huge explosion
shoppers were screaming in commotion,
& playing over the plaza loud speaker was?
You guessed it: Kylie Minogue's Locomotion!

When we stood our wounds were healed
gone was the blood from us that spilled,
the gang who beat us had all fallen
for the Buddha had truly spoken.

Watching Anu from above
protecting the child with his love,
together we both looked at sky
& thanked The Lord Buddha with a tear in our eyes.
