One of my readers said ... Have you ever seen how a tree breaks open a rock? They can do that you know...a soft watery root creeps into a crack of a rock, slowly growing bigger and by using small pockets of water pushes the rock apart. Then it grows further in and on the rock till it has completely broken down the cold rock making it one with the warm ground around it...... Yesterday eve I re-read your meditation "Tirra visits the high country", I like that story for obvious reasons... but what really strikes me in that story is the last line..the core: "Sweet life - break my heart open and come inside." For some other reason, not so obvious, it makes me think of the above fact.... the tree, a soft matter... breaking open the hard rock. Is that why there is an end to vegetation on all big mountains... the rocks are afraid of the roots?? AN |
