Icarus

I am the panther that coughs
in the moonlight
outside your bedroom window.

I am the tiger that stalks
in the shadows
as you follow the forest path.

I am the lion that roars
in the grasses
as you picnic pleasantly in the shade.

Fierce and quick, this wild heart
flames intently --
a scorching danger to those nearby.

Come, my Icarus,
put on your wings
and flirt with danger.

This fire will consume
us both.
