Waterfall Refraction
Charmed by tumbling grace,
we miss the absolute
necessity for water to fall,
smash onto rocks below,
and become a river again.
Beguiled by numbing power,
we lack the utter
trust that fragmented
droplets, refracted into rainbows,
will settle to their bed again.
Seeing one scene at a time,
blind to the larger pattern,
we fail to learn the lessons
of necessity and trust,
clinging, instead, to timid control.
Enlarge my vision,
stretch my capacity,
that I might surrender now,
and allow the moment
to make a rainbow of me.
